LOVE THAT BOB!
(aka THE BOB CUMMINGS SHOW)

Bob starred as dashing Hollywood photographer Bob Collins in this classic series. He was always getting involved with beautiful women and always getting into trouble along the way. Ann B. Davis played Schulzy, his plain Jane secretary, Rosemary De Camp was his sister Margaret, and Dwayne Hickman (Dobie Gillis) was his nephew Chuck. The show ran for 5 seasons and was an enormous hit, despite being moved from CBS to NBC halfway through its run. This episode is entitled "Bob Digs Rock and Roll", and is presented exactly as it first aired on NBC on Tuesday, May 27, 1958 complete, uncut and with original commercials.

If you'd like to sit back, relax, and enjoy an original broadcast of this classic situation comedy (complete with 1958 commercials), start the program now! To order this video (it is one of 4 episodes on Shokus catalog tape #271-LOVE THAT BOB!, I), simply click below. Enjoy the show!

GREAT MOMENTS FROM VINTAGE TV

SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE GOLDEN DAYS OF TELEVISION!

Simply make a selection below. Each clip will begin playing back automatically within a few seconds:

The Jack Benny Program (1954)
In the early 1950s, Jack Benny performed all of his shows live before a studio audience, and there was no going back if mistakes occurred. Jack was such a pro that even when he blew a line, audiences were unaware. But by the mid 50s, he was alternating between live and film so that the show could go out on location, and by the 1960s, all of his shows were filmed. Our library includes about 25 or so of Jack's classic live programs, and below is a 1954 clip from catalog tape #230-JACK BENNY, III, featuring Jack, Rochester, and Don Wilson. This is a perfect example of how generous Jack was in giving laughs to his regular cast; often times he was merely the straight man or the butt of the humor.

The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (1951)
George and Gracie performed 52 episodes of their classic series live from 1950-52 before switching to 35mm film. Shokus Video was lucky enough to find a dozen or so surviving kinescopes from the early period of their TV career. Below is a clip from catalog tape #202-COMEDY AND KID STUFF, II, in which Gracie tells her visiting nieces her own version of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol".

An unbelievable 1952 cigarette commercial!
From our catalog tape #404-VINTAGE COMMERCIALS, I, here's a segment from an unbelievable cigarette commercial produced in 1952. It's amazing that they actually got away with stuff like this back then!

The Original "Dragnet" (1952)
Here's the first TV version of the classic crime drama series, and an interesting and unintentionally funny clip from catalog tape #452. Friday and his partner investigate the trashing of a local movie theater. It seems that teenagers got high on marijuana and destroyed the place. It's 1952 television's version of "Refer Madness"!

The Colgate Summer Comedy Hour with Sammy Davis, Jr. (1954)
Here's a live TV clip from 1954 featuring the great Sammy Davis, Jr....as you watch Sammy sing and do impressions, you'll see why he was one of the most talented performers ever in the history ofshow business. From catalog tape #438. Complete tape description and ordering instructions.

Queen for a Day (1960)
We get more requests for this series than any other, and it's a shame that fewer than a handful of kinescopes survive (we have 2). This is a 1960 clip from catalog tape #314. See if you can guess who is crowned in this one!

Playhouse 90 with Bob Cummings and Rip Torn (1958)
From catalog tape #401, here's a 1958 segment of "Playhouse 90" featuring Bob Cummings and a very young Rip Torn ("The Larry Sanders Show"). Cummings plays a sadistic, by-the-book air force colonel during the height of World War II, and Torn is the cowardly pilot afraid to fly in the next mission.
