“Your Show of Shows” became “Caesar’s Hour” in the mid fifties. The show was a mixture of sitcoms, sketches, and music. Both shows contain original commercials.
1. MARCH 12, 1956 - Comedy includes a “Victors” sitcom sketch in which Bob Victor (Caesar) runs against his friend George Hanson (Reiner) for President of the Springdale Community Center, and Caesar as a French sculptor (The Plasterer of Paris). Also - music from Jean Sanders.
2. JUNE 11, 1956 - In “The Victors”, the sparkle seems to have dimmed in Bob and Nan’s marriage; other comedy includes spoofs of gangster movies, and a musical/dancing TV parody a la Lawrence Welk.

444 THE RED SKELTON SHOW, I

We've been fortunate enough to locate four RARE live kinescopes from the 1950s that show the master of pantomime at his classic best. All shows contain original commercials, exactly as first broadcast!
1. FEBRUARY 24, 1952: Red proudly displays the Emmys his program won, does a pantomime routine, and the sketch spoofs British newscasters.
2. FEBRUARY 9, 1954: Red's guests are Ed Sullivan and the King Sisters. Comedy includes a Driver Education lesson, and a satire on the navy.
3. JANUARY 25, 1955: Guests are Reginald Denny and Mary McCarty. A spoof of trailer park living is seen.
4. JANUARY 13, 1959: Edward Everett Horton and Richard Deacon are the guests. Red does a classic "Freddie the Freeloader" sketch.

528 THE RED SKELTON SHOW, II

1. THE RED SKELTON REVUE (9/8/54). During the summer of 1954, Red’s series expanded to an hour and filled Arthur Godfrey’s time slot as well as his own. In the fall of 1954, the show went back to 30 minutes, where it remained until the 60s. This is the last of the 60-minute episodes Red did that summer. His guests are Peggy Lee and Sandra Gould. In a comedy sketch, Red goes to the dentist, and in another, Freddie the Freeloader meets a tough criminal.
2. THE RED SKELTON SHOW (1/18/55). Red’s guest is Peter Lorre, and this show features a hilarious “Honeymooners” parody with Peter as Ralph and Red as Norton.
3. THE RED SKELTON SHOW (1/15/57). Mickey Rooney guests in this episode. Red and Mickey play sailors about to go on shore leave. They become contestants on a husband and wife(!) game show.

610 THE RED SKELTON SHOW, III

The master is back in three live shows not seen since they were first broadcast, and all feature original commercials.
1. THE RED SKELTON REVUE (August 11, 1954) - Guests are Gloria De Haven, The New York City Ballet, and Will Rogers, Jr. Comedy includes Red as a bandit in the old west, and as a hunter on a safari in Africa. This summer program expanded Red’s series to an hour.
2. THE RED SKELTON SHOW (November 1, 1955) - Actress Virginia Grey is the guest. Red and Virginia play a couple who attend a party where Red really ties one on. To teach him a lesson, Virginia has their bedroom re-arranged so that when Red wakes up, he thinks he’s walking on the ceiling! (Sound is a bit low on this kinescope).
3. THE RED SKELTON SHOW (October 1, 1957) - Freddie the Freeloader’s home is situated right where the Brooklyn Dodgers intend to erect their new Los Angeles ballpark. Guest stars in this episode include Marilyn Maxwell, Marie Wilson, and Don Drysdale.
